Yoga:
You have probably heard by now that yoga is good for you. Maybe you have even ‘tried yoga’ and discovered that it makes you feel better mentally and physically.

FACT: A consistent practice offers all kinds of mental and physical health benefits. Some like the benefit of improved flexibility, others hone into the inclusion of mental clarity and stress reduction, which may be more subtle but just as powerful. When hinged together the benefits of practicing yoga, contribute to an increased feeling of well-being which helps explain why so many people find yoga so addictive.

At Avatar Fitness we help you over the first hurdle which is deciding what type of yoga class to go to. While there are a lot of different kinds of yoga out there, please do not get too caught up in identifying the perfect type before you have even stepped onto your mat.

When beginning your pursuit as a yoga student, you might feel a little anxious or overwhelmed by the sheer number of poses. Keep an open mind and everything will become clear, as yoga practice is a lifelong pursuit, where you will be provided plenty of time to learn new postures.

During your progression you will feel comfortable practicing more and more poses but in the early days it is a good idea to keep things simple when you are just starting out. You will find the basic poses are valuable and rewarding enough to keep you occupied for a long time.

Sometimes you just do not know what you like until you have tried a few classes.

Yoga is about the union of the mind and body and living in the present moment. For most people, the shapes of many yoga poses seem foreign and completely unfamiliar, not to mention learning about the culture and associated practices like breathing exercises and meditation.

The spine is your body’s supporting structure and centre for nerves supplying the entire body.

Brilliant gym for all people! This is the only gym I’ve ever felt comfortable in and the staff are so helpful! Any help or questions they’re on hand! Many classes are included in the membership also.
