Avatar Fitness is an independent health and fitness club based in Mold, north Wales.  

Starting out simply as a personal training studio back in 2014, we eventually developed into a fully equipped gym. We now have a wide range of premium fitness equipment including:

20+ Cardiovascular Machines

20+ Strength and Resistance Machines

Dedicated Strength and Conditioning Area

Large Studio Room with Boxing Equipment

Free Weights Zone with up to 50KG Dumbbells 

Dedicated Stretching and Workout Zones

In addition to this, we also run over 20 weekly fitness classes, ranging from Yoga & Pilates, to HIIT Training and Aerobics. Please see our full timetable. 

We pride ourselves as being a health and fitness club rather than just a gym, always offering a bit more to our members help you stay on track with not just your fitness, but your health and wellness too.  

Our partnership with The Organic Stores Health Shop (located downstairs from the gym) combined with our own chill zone where you can get healthy snacks and organic drinks, are an example of our passion for eating well too. 

We have always set out with the ethos of making our gym friendly, welcoming and accessible to everyone, no matter what your fitness level or experience. Our supportive environment has helped us create a fantastic community spirit here at Avatar Fitness.

Neal

Neal Jones

Neal founded Avatar Fitness in 2014.

He has been involved in the health and fitness industry for over a decade. His strong passion for helping people improve their lives through better health and wellness is apparent in the many avenues he has explored and studied.

Neal has been a sports and fitness enthusiast from a young age, and has played golf at a high standard. During a 3 year spell at The University of Central Lancashire studying Golf Coaching and Performance, he attained a handicap of scratch. During this time, he competed in University and County events and represented the University golf team as a player and team captain. He holds the following coaching qualifications:

-BA (Hons) Golf Coaching and Performance
-FdSc Golf Science and Performance

Neal has also studied Martial Arts for many years, and has studied many disciplines, such as; Kickboxing, Thai Boxing, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun, and Kali/Eskrima. Watching Bruce Lee as a young boy sparked his interest in martial arts and he's had a passion for learning different styles ever since.

Neal holds the following Martial Arts qualifications:

-2nd Dan Black Belt in Martial Arts Concepts
-KRU Thai Boxing Instructor
-British Combat Association Self Defence Coach
-MAXT Filipino Martial Arts Level 1 Instructor
-MAXT Grappling Level 1 Instructor

Neal's combined experience as a martial artist, fitness instructor and golf instructor, allow him to provide cutting edge sessions for people looking to:

-Improve their golf swing
-Enhance golf specific fitness
-Improve sports specific fitness and performance
-Learn martial arts
-Develop self defence skills
-Improve functional strength and fitness
-Attain peak levels of health and wellness

Andy

(BSc (Hons), MFHT, HSA)

Qualifications

Speciality

Andy has been involved in the fitness industry for over a decade, and a part of the Avatar Fitness team for 7 years. As well as managing the day-to-day running of the gym, he also provides tailored personal training sessions for his clients.

Andy is also trained on providing body composition assessments to delve deeper into areas such as body fat, muscle mass, and metabolism.

John

John has a specific interest in strength training and boxing. He has been part of the Avatar Fitness team for 18 months and qualified as a personal trainer in January 2022. Whether you're looking to increase strength, lose weight, or just shape up a bit, John has a unique ability to help you get motivated to become the best you can be!

John is also trained on providing body composition assessments to delve deeper into areas such as body fat, muscle mass, and metabolism.

Chris

Chris has been in the health and fitness industry for many years and has a vast amount of experience providing bespoke personal training, and nutrition advice for his clients.

If you want to get in great shape and improve your diet as well, Chris will work alongside you to develop and improve your physical capabilities, and eating habits.

Chris is also trained on providing body composition assessments to delve deeper into areas such as body fat, muscle mass, and metabolism.

Julie

Julie has been a part of the Avatar Fitness team for over 5 years now. She has been involved in the health and fitness industry for around 35 years - working as a Group Exercise Instructor, Personal Trainer, Sports Development Manager, Fitness Tutor, and Assessor. She has a vast amount of experience along with a strong passion for helping people better themselves through health and fitness.

Janet

Janet has been a group exercise instructor in the fitness industry for over 20 years and has been part of the Avatar Fitness team for over 4 years. She is qualified to level 2 in group exercise, enabling her to teach a variety of fitness classes.

Additionally, she has also attained qualifications in Pilates (Level 3 Diploma), Zumba (dance fitness class) and Boxing (Thump Boxing qualification).

The main focus for all Janets classes is that they are FUN and inclusive for everyone.

Janet’s main pastimes are fitness, walking, cycling, cooking, travel, films and theatre.

Jacob

Jacob has been a fitness instructor at Avatar Fitness for over 2 years now. He carries out several classes a week, including, Strength and Conditioning and Total Tone.

As well as teaching classes, he also carries out personal training, allowing him to engage with a wide range of clients, from fitness beginners to advanced athletes.

Throughout his career, he has honed his expertise in instructing a multitude of training methods, including kettlebells, calisthenics, mobility training, primal movement/animal flow, circuits, HIIT, and strength and conditioning. His training philosophy revolves around the principles of functional fitness, with a passion for enhancing individuals' capacity to move better and unleash their athletic potential.

His ultimate goal is to help clients discover the joy in their fitness journey and above all develop a physique that will be able to move as free as possible for as long as possible, unburdened by physical limitations.

Tony’s passion has always been in fitness/sport. Tony has been in the fitness industry for over 20 years now and during this time he has been a Leisure Club Manager, a Store Manager for one of the UK’s biggest fitness equipment suppliers plus also an owner of his own Fitness business for over 10 Years. Tony is renowned for his fitness classes, especially Metafit and Kettlercise. He was the first person to bring the Metafit and Kettlercise classes to the local area in 2011.

Sam

Polly

Polly has been in the fitness industry for over 15 years and is passionate about making fitness fun and accessible.

Starting out in the Aerial Fitness industry in 2007 Polly eventually found Yoga and it changed her whole outlook on wellness and fitness. Polly decided to train in Yoga and add her own unique style combining a dance and fitness background to create inventive flows. Not forgetting the all important Breathwork and relaxation that is so important in Yoga.
